Much more than "Come On Eileen"

More Please and Thank You!

In the US we call Dexys Midnight Runners, a one hit wonder. When anyone thinks of music in the 80's, "Come On Eileen" is usually in their top ten and it's still played today at most wedding receptions. But, most people don't know anything else about Dexys Midnight Runners (DMRs) or the enigmatic lead singer, Kevin Rowland. Sure, I discovered DMRs with "Come On Eileen" but, after buying "Too Rye Aye" I found much more. Kevin has a way of weaving lyrics together that are both heartfelt and literate. One my favorite DMRs song, "There, There My Dear" Kevin sings about rebellion with excellant lyrics like "The only way to change things is to shoot men who arrange things!" and "If you're so antifashion, why not wear flares? Instead of dressing down all the same." Do yourself a favor and buy a few DMRs tracks from iTunes.

Mike, I'll take your word for it on DMR. I hope there much more than "Come on Eileen" cause I always thought that song was a little cheesey and obnoxious.
